James is the Director of Music at St Martin’s Church, Ruislip, where he plays and improvises on the organ for 3 services per week, performs recitals, and trains the strong amateur choir.  He began learning the organ relatively late at the age of 16 whilst at Merchant Taylor’s’ School, Northwood, under the guidance of Richard Hobson (Grosvenor Chapel, Mayfair) after discovering a passion for the instrument’s majestic and colourful repertoire.  He quickly picked up a knack for it instrument and appreciated the contrast it offered to the piano.

James has over 10 years experience in playing the organ for churches and has passed both the Performance and Keyboard Skills exams of the respected ARCO award; he plans on taking the written and aural exam in the near future. He has a particular love of French organ music from Titelouze to Tournemire. Please contact James if you would like an organist for a wedding or a funeral.
